If Mick Jagger turns 77 next July, his style doesn’t seem to have wrinkled. This is evidenced by the Saint Laurent men’s spring-summer 2020 collection proposed by Anthony Vaccarello, which evokes all the sensuality and energy of the Rolling Stones leader and can now be discovered in an unprecedented portfolio of black and white images.

For almost 60 years, members of the Rolling Stones have reigned supreme over the world of rock’n’roll.
Mick Jagger, the ultra charismatic leader, is famous for his electrifying music and hypnotizing movements as well as his androgynous, bohemian, and sensual style. And while he was performing the iconic musician’s stage costumes for his tour (which started in 2019 which has been paused for the moment), Anthony Vaccarello draws inspiration from Mick Jagger’s impressive wardrobe.

For his second men’s collection for Saint Laurent, spring-summer 2020 season. “I started working on this collection after meeting Mick Jagger for the preparation of his next tour. He showed me what he had in his locker room and I was immediately attracted by the details, the colors, the attitude that these pieces embodied,” said the artistic director of the French house. More than ever in his element, Anthony Vaccarello celebrates the spirit of Saint Laurent, during the twentieth-century period.

“I wanted to bring something heavier, like a heavy summer
with heavy embroidery, heavy colours, heavy gold.”

Presented on the beach of Malibu in Los Angeles, the Saint Laurent spring-summer 2020 collection thus evoked the inimitable allure of Mick Jagger during his tour with the Rolling Stones in 1975, just like the style of Yves Saint Laurent in Morocco during the same decade: long embroidered tunics, shiny tuxedos, brandenburg jackets, loose pants, light silk shirts, oriental details and crystal embroidery, straw hats and long necklaces … These silhouettes are today to be rediscovered within a unique portfolio, where the timeless silhouettes were drawn by Anthony Vaccarello come to life in elegant black and white images that strongly evoke the rock energy of Mick Jagger.
